Day Wise Itinerary

Welcome to the enchanting landscapes of Ladakh! As you touch down in Leh, you’ll be greeted by crisp mountain air and surreal vistas of barren peaks. Spend the day easing into the high-altitude environment—rest and hydrate to help your body acclimatize. In the evening, step out to explore the city’s iconic landmarks. Visit the peaceful Shanti Stupa, a gleaming white monument perched on a hilltop offering panoramic sunset views over Leh. Then make your way to the Leh Palace, a 17th-century structure echoing Ladakh's royal legacy. End your day with a gentle stroll through Leh Market, sipping butter tea or shopping for prayer flags and local handicrafts.
Today’s journey is a fascinating blend of history, mysticism, and natural marvels. Set off after breakfast for a drive along the Srinagar-Leh highway, beginning with a stop at the Hall of Fame, a moving tribute to the Indian soldiers who’ve served in Ladakh’s rugged terrain. As you head west, marvel at the curious phenomenon of Magnetic Hill, where vehicles seem to roll uphill against gravity. Continue to Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, a revered Sikh shrine surrounded by dramatic mountains. Finally, reach the Sangam Point, where the jade-green Zanskar River merges with the brownish Indus, a stunning confluence that photographers dream of. Return to Leh by evening, filled with wonder and a deeper connection to this ancient land.
The thrill of high-altitude adventure begins today as you leave Leh and ascend towards Khardung La, one of the world’s highest motorable passes at 18,380 feet. As prayer flags flutter in the cold wind and snow-capped peaks surround you, pause to take in this once-in-a-lifetime view. Descending into the greener, more temperate Nubra Valley, you’ll notice a shift in scenery—from rugged mountains to lush villages and open valleys. Reach Disket, home to Ladakh’s largest monastery and an imposing statue of Maitreya Buddha that watches over the valley. Continue to Hunder, famous for its sand dunes and double-humped Bactrian camels—an unexpected desert in the Himalayas. Settle in for a night surrounded by Nubra’s peaceful, remote charm.
Awaken early to the crisp air of Nubra and get ready for one of Ladakh’s most scenic drives. Today’s route takes you along the Shyok River, through remote landscapes where towering cliffs meet winding rivers. After several hours on the rugged trail, you’ll arrive at the stunning Pangong Lake, sitting at over 14,000 feet. This world-famous lake stretches from India into Tibet, known for its constantly changing hues—from turquoise to deep blue. Spend time soaking in the serene beauty of Pangong’s shorelines, photographing its mirror-like reflections and vast expanse. Tonight, stay in a lakeside camp or cottage, surrounded by silence, stars, and the gentle lapping of the water.
After a magical night beside Pangong Lake, begin your journey back to Leh via the dramatic Chang La Pass—another high-altitude gateway with breathtaking vistas and fluttering prayer flags. On the return route, explore the Thiksey Monastery, a 12-story hilltop complex often compared to Tibet’s Potala Palace, home to a grand seated Maitreya Buddha. Not far from here lies the historic Shey Palace, once the summer capital of Ladakh, where ancient murals and a gilded statue of Shakyamuni Buddha await. Return to Leh by late afternoon, with time to relax, shop, or simply reflect on your spiritual and scenic journey. Cap off the day with a cozy dinner and a final toast to the Himalayas.
It’s time to say goodbye to this surreal Himalayan paradise. As you make your way to Leh Airport, retrace the paths you’ve explored—mountain passes, sacred monasteries, shimmering lakes, and silent deserts. Carry with you not just souvenirs, but the stillness, adventure, and beauty of Ladakh. As your flight lifts off over snow-streaked peaks, you'll leave with memories that will last a lifetime.
