Day Wise Itinerary

Touch down in Leh, where the towering Himalayas form a silent guard over Ladakh’s capital. At over 11,500 feet above sea level, your first day is all about acclimatizing to the rarefied air. Spend the morning resting, sipping on hot butter tea, and taking it slow. In the evening, step into Ladakh’s spiritual and historic heart. Visit the pristine white-domed Shanti Stupa, perched high above the city, glowing golden during sunset. Follow it up with a walk through the crumbling yet majestic Leh Palace, a 17th-century royal residence with sweeping views. As twilight settles over the Indus Valley, stroll through the vibrant Leh Market before heading back for a cozy mountain night.
Today’s journey takes you west of Leh, where history, spirituality, and natural mysteries intertwine. Begin your day with a visit to the Hall of Fame, a museum that commemorates the valor of Indian soldiers in Ladakh’s rugged terrain. Then head to the gravity-defying Magnetic Hill, where vehicles seemingly roll uphill—a natural illusion that continues to amaze. Pause at the peaceful Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, a sacred Sikh temple nestled among the rocky slopes. The day ends at the breathtaking Sangam Point, where the emerald Zanskar River meets the brown Indus in a surreal dance of colors and currents. Return to Leh by evening, filled with stories both mythical and modern.
The adventure truly begins as you leave Leh behind and climb toward the formidable Khardung La Pass—one of the highest motorable roads in the world at 18,380 feet. The wind here whispers prayers through colorful flags as you stand among snowy peaks and stone cairns. Descending into Nubra Valley, you’ll notice the shift from stark mountain desert to a greener, warmer landscape dotted with villages and apricot orchards. Reach Disket, where the towering Maitreya Buddha overlooks the valley in peaceful serenity. Nearby lies Hunder, where sand dunes meet snow-capped peaks—a unique fusion only found in Ladakh. Enjoy a camel ride on the rare double-humped Bactrian camels and rest for the night amid the valley’s tranquil charm.
Wake early for a journey deep into history and culture as you drive to Turtuk, India’s northernmost village and a part of Baltistan until 1971. Unlike any other place in Ladakh, Turtuk is lush and green, with stone homes, walnut trees, and villagers who speak a Balti dialect and live a life influenced by Central Asian traditions. Walk through narrow alleys, visit ancient mosques, and connect with locals whose warmth is as memorable as the landscape. Bordering Pakistan-controlled territory, this village is a living reminder of divided lands and shared heritage. Return to Hunder by evening, carrying stories that few travelers ever hear.
Today is for the bold-hearted. Travel toward the Siachen Base Camp route, as far as civilian access allows. Pass through remote stretches of Nubra and experience the stark beauty that soldiers call home in the world's highest battlefield. On your return, explore the peaceful village of Sumur, home to the elegant Samstanling Monastery nestled amid poplars and willows. This part of Nubra is quieter, spiritual, and deeply rooted in tradition. As you return to your accommodation, you’ll feel a growing connection to this valley—both its harshness and its peace.
Bid farewell to Nubra and set out for a breathtaking drive to Pangong Lake via the rugged Shyok River route—a less-traveled path filled with wild beauty. You’ll drive alongside riverbeds, across high cliffs, and through hauntingly quiet valleys. Eventually, the shimmering blue expanse of Pangong Tso reveals itself, stretching over 130 kilometers, with one-third lying in India and the rest in Tibet. Watch as the lake transforms color with every passing hour—azure, turquoise, cobalt, and even emerald. Spend the afternoon and evening by the lakeside, soaking in the silence, taking photos, or just staring out at the endless blue. Sleep tonight at a camp or guest cottage under the Milky Way.
After a sunrise by the lake, begin the journey back to Leh via Chang La Pass—the third highest motorable road in the world. En route, stop at two of Ladakh’s most spiritually significant sites. First is the majestic Thiksey Monastery, a grand 12-story complex resembling Tibet’s Potala Palace and home to an impressive 49-foot tall Maitreya Buddha statue. Then visit Shey Palace, once the summer capital of Ladakh, where you’ll find the golden Shakyamuni Buddha gazing serenely across the valley. Reach Leh by late afternoon, with time for a final stroll through the bazaar or a quiet dinner, reflecting on the journey of a lifetime.
Your final morning in Ladakh begins early as you transfer to Leh Airport, one of the highest-altitude airports in the world. As your flight takes off over the craggy peaks and winding rivers, take one last look at the land that has challenged you, inspired you, and filled your heart with Himalayan stillness. Though your body departs, Ladakh stays with you—etched in memory, soul, and story.
